Introduction.

Guidance

While running my small creative business, I had a long-term vision of what it could become. What I didn’t anticipate was who I would become in the process—someone more experienced, capable, content, confident, and surprisingly full of knowledge.

Along the way, I made plenty of mistakes. And while I firmly believe mistakes are valuable, going around in circles wasted time and left me feeling frustrated. I didn’t have anyone to turn to for help or advice, so I sought it out myself. I was fortunate to meet some of the top business people in the Northwest (UK). I picked their brains and applied their methods to my tiny business, which eventually grew to support not just me and my family, but other people and their families as well.

I can only get you to where I’ve been. I’m not promising millionaire status or “boss babe” group chats. Instead, I’m here to share how I quietly built my creative business as an introvert, mostly on my own, with just a £30 cash injection. It was more of a cash drip, but that’s all I had at the time.

I put my work out there, became resourceful, and worked with the data I had. No fancy software, no degree, and no business experience—just a creative idea and a determination to change my life.

What I Did

I slowly implemented structure into the chaos of my creativity. I channelled fear, rejection, and anger to push myself forward—but also pushed myself into burnout. I quickly realised that didn’t work and instead found solutions that did.

When people started asking me, “How did you do this?” or “How did you manage that?” I realised I had built a wealth of knowledge that could be invaluable to someone just starting their creative business journey—or to someone who already has a business but feels stuck.

I became a consultant but I found that there was a pool of people who just needed the basics answered without lots of investment and I found that blogging suited me, and it allows me to consistently show up and share my insights.

The Boutique Business Blog

This blog is for those who want to grow their creative business and move forward in their development journey. Think of it as a helping hand, a light in the dark, or a sisterly voice.

Some of the people who inspired me include:

               •             Marie Forleo

               •             Jenna Kutcher (Goal Digger)

I also delved into psychology, discovering a dormant part of myself that awakened as I explored this fascinating field. This blog will merge business strategy with psychology, helping pinpoint areas of struggle and offering practical, valuable solutions.
